The basic idea
On sloping ground the pool sits half in, half out. On the high side we dig. On the low side the frame stays above ground and is clad, like a raised pool. Less spoil leaves the site and less retaining is needed.
Overflow towards the view
If the low side faces the sea or a valley, an overflow edge fits there: water spills towards the view and the pool seems to continue into the horizon. The channel sits lower, out of sight from the terrace. See overflow pool.

What we check on the survey
- The type of ground: soil, rock, old fill.
- How much the level changes along the pool.
- Where rainwater goes, so it does not collect behind the walls.
- How the digger gets in and where the spoil goes.
On steep plots we work with your engineer on retaining walls around the pool.
Plant room on the low side
The slope helps: the plant room goes at the low point, inside the cladding, and the pump works with flooded suction, without lifting water uphill.
