Pool lighting: a second pool, after dark

On summer evenings we spend more time around the pool than in it. Good lighting makes it the best spot of the house.

How many lights

An 8 × 4 m pool usually needs two lights on one long side, facing away from the house so they do not dazzle. Larger pools and overflow pools get more. Lights are fitted into the panels before the liner, with watertight flanges.

White or colours

White light shows the true colour of the liner. RGB lights change colour by remote or app. With dark liners, white or cool blue gives the most elegant result.

Safety

Lights run at 12 V through a safety transformer in the plant room, and the panel has a residual-current device. You change a lamp without draining the pool: the fitting comes out with enough cable to reach the surface.

Beyond the water

Low lights on the deck steps, at the base of plants or under the coping of a raised pool finish the picture and help you see where you step.
