Liner or reinforced membrane: what goes into your pool

Both are PVC and both make the pool watertight. The difference is thickness, reinforcement and how they are fitted. Which one fits depends on the shape and use of the pool.

Bag liner

The classic liner is made in the factory to the pool's size, as one bag, and hangs from a profile at the top of the wall. It is quick to fit and suits simple rectangular shapes.

Reinforced membrane

A reinforced membrane has a polyester mesh inside and is about 1.5 mm thick. It comes in rolls and is hot-air welded on site. That lets it cover steps, benches, overflow channels and odd corners without wrinkles. It takes knocks and heavy use better.

What we suggest

For a pool with inside steps, a bench or an overflow edge, reinforced membrane. For a simple rectangle with a stainless ladder, both work. At liner replacement you can switch from one to the other once we have checked the profile.

Which lasts longer?

With good water chemistry both outlast the warranty. Reinforced membrane copes better with knocks and heavy foot traffic.

Is a liner slippery?

Smooth ranges are a little slippery when wet. For steps and shallow areas we suggest a textured anti-slip range.
